Spirituality of YOUTH 2000 Retreats

The charism of YOUTH 2000 is to lead young people, through prayer and instruction before the Blessed Sacrament, to a personal encounter and ever-deepening union of the heart and mind with the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Christ.

Through Eucharist-centered retreats, YOUTH 2000 responds to the call of Pope John Paul II to prepare young people to live and proclaim the Gospel of Our Lord.

All across the country, Catholic youth have been answering the challenge of Pope John Paul II to become leaders and world-changers who are not ashamed of the Gospel. It's happening coast to coast at YOUTH 2000 prayer festivals like ours in the Diocese of Covington, Kentucky!

YOUTH 2000 has spread fast since the first American event was held in 1992. Other programs are going strong in the Caribbean, the British Isles, Europe, and Africa as the new millennium advances.

"Dear young people, the happiness you are seeking, the happiness you have a right to enjoy has a name and a face: It is Jesus of Nazareth, hidden in the Eucharist. Only he gives the fullness of life to humanity! With Mary, say your own 'yes' to God, for He wishes to give Himself to you." – Pope Benedict XVI

"My Dear Young People: …We are the Body of Christ on earth, and my prayer for you is that this weekend you will feel this oneness with others around you." – Most Reverend Roger J. Foys, Bishop of Covington
